After a brief discussion in which Doc told the guy he just wanted a "regular haircut", he got this guy's idea of "regular".
Here he was last night:
And here he is tonight. 
It's definitely short, and he was disappointed. I told him I always take a photo of the cut I'm hoping for when I go, because words just don't convey it like a pic. The guy nearly buzzed him, which he would not have been happy with. But he's got a thick head of hair, and it grows fast, so even though he's having a bit of an identity crisis, and regardless that the kids ran away screaming when they saw him, the good news is he won't have to get another cut for a while! And he looks nice and conservative again. Just like the guy I fell in love with 21 years ago. I am happy to report that I am now through writing about hair. For a while. I promise.

I didn't run away screaming! I just said,(wimpering) "Why did you cut it so short? I WANT YOUR OLD HAIR BACK!!!"
Good thing it grows fast...
Would it be out of line to mention that I like it? Maybe even better than his usual cut?
Since I'm in the habit of commenting on other people's husbands; ;) I'll say that he still looks darling!
But yes, I like my hubby's hair a bit longer too and I make sure he knows it!
At least his is still growing back. My husband's hair on the other hand ... well, that's a different story!
