I've got a golden ticket!

Okay, I'm definitely late comin' to this party, but thus far in my life, I haven't ever gone to a chocolate shop and hand-picked a box of my favorites just for myself. So last week when my darling friend "R" gave me a gift certificate to See's Candies, I went on down to the candy store, and with the help of the kind worker, picked out all my favorites from their wide selection of chocolates. And then, I proceeded to do what I have never been able to do to all the communal boxes of chocolates that have passed through my life...thus fulfilling one of my deprived-childhood fantasies:

YUMMY!

Wow, it never occurred to me to go to a chocolate shop and purchase my favorite candies for myself. Really! I've occasionally purchased two or three pieces just for myself, or filled a box for a relative. Wow. Sounds great!

Now, if See's were only to offer gift-cards I think we'd be on to the perfect Pity Party or Birthday gift. Why give a standard box of mix, mix your own (if you don't know your friends absolute favorites), when you can allow them to choose their own? Genius! (And I think if the word "chocolate" is on a gift card it has more heart than the standard ATM transaction.)

* Amendment. See's does have gift certificate's, but online they're only available in $25 and $50 quantities. I amend my wish to be that they had a "prepaid" box of sorts. Here's a 1-lb box, go fill it with anything you want.

actually, we got 2 gift certificates (both on the same day...how random is that?!) for one-pound boxes. one was from my girlfriend to me, and the other to the family. so i picked one specially for me, and the other i hand-picked all the ones i knew my DH would love and gave it to him. i figured our kids have enough treats.

so they DO have what you hoped for. ..you just need to stop by the See's shop and you can get either a paper certificate for a one or two or whatever pound box, or they have the credit-card swipe kind of "card" that you can pre-load with any amount you like. A 1 lb box is something like $18.00 as i recall. the chocolates were all the same price, and if you go over 1 lb, you'll have to pay the difference. i ended up paying like .21 cents for my box, because he crammed an extra in there.

i'm embarrassed to admit on the blog that my box is GONE! Gone i say. in 3 days flat, i consumed an entire pound of chocolates. this is not a thing to be proud of. maybe confessing it here, buried in the comments, no one will find out.

boy were they delish! ♥

Thanks for the info!

Just think, at least it was only 1 lb of chocolates. I've found if I purchase a lb bag of candy on Saturday it'll be gone before Wednesday. If I buy two bags? Gone by Wednesday. I haven't tested three bags. Regardless, it's so easy to indulge in chocolate!

How cool is that! I've never been to a See's, but I think next time I'm near one I'll have to check it out. I've heard so many good things!
